A hoverboard catching fire Saturday led to a structure fire in Penhold.

All six people in the house were evacuated and damage to the structure was estimated at $3,000.

Penhold Fire Chief Jim Pendergast reminded residents it’s important to have a working fire alarm.

“The occupants did a great job, one heard the smoke alarm and woke everyone up. They called 911 and poured some water on the hoverboard and evacuated to wait for us to arrive,” he said.

One engine, one ladder, one command vehicle, and one support vehicle with 13 firefighters responded to this call.
