Incoming Alberta premier Notley meets with Jim Prentice, gets insight, advice

Alberta’s incoming premier Rachel Notley has met face-to-face with her predecessor for the first time since her historic election win.

EDMONTON — Alberta’s incoming premier Rachel Notley has met face-to-face with her predecessor for the first time since her historic election win.

Notley and Jim Prentice met today at Government House in Edmonton.

Notley says Prentice gave her some insight and advice, but declined to be more specific.

Prentice quit as Progressive Conservative party leader and as an MLA a week ago, when his party was defeated by the NDP in the provincial election.

Prentice remains premier until Notley is sworn in, but has not been seen in the legislature and has declined to speak to media.

Notley says if an emergency situation should arise before she is sworn in, she has been assured by Prentice that he will act on her wishes to do what needs to be done.
