Tickets for the Red Deer Kinsmen’s 2013 Dream Home were 80 per cent sold as of Monday.
Only 2,700 single tickets were left, available for $100 each.
A total of 14,115 tickets went on sale in October and packages of three tickets for $250 and 50/50 tickets sold out about a week ago.
“It’s just been incredible,” said Len Sisco, Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery chair, on Monday.
The Kinsmen are aiming for a complete sellout, which would be a first for the lottery since 1999.
Sisco predicted the Kinsmen will come very close to selling out today.
Money raised will assist community organizations that the Kinsmen fund throughout the year.
“If we were to sell out completely we would have close to $500,000 to put right back into the community.”
The grand prize, a luxurious home worth $890,000 built by Larkaun Homes, located in Vanier Woods at 220 Vancouver Cres., has been attracting hordes of people on the weekends.
Sisco said 50-50 tickets were also available online this year and buyers have been purchasing more Dream Home tickets online and by phone this year as well.
“A lot of people have very, very busy lives. They don’t have the time to get (to the Dream Home) on a Saturday or a Sunday. This enabled them to get onboard.”
Last year, 70 per cent of Dream Home tickets were sold.
The draws happen at 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and everyone is welcome to attend.
Sisco anticipates today, the last day to buy tickets, will be another busy day for ticket sales, just like last year.
“We had a lineup during the entire day and everybody was happy and patient. It was literally a serpentine of people all the way through the garage — very cool.”
Tickets are available online at www.reddeerkinsmen.com and by phone at 403-356-3900 until 4 p.m. today, and until 5 p.m. at the Dream Home.
