Indigenous Peoples Day will be celebrated online on Monday in Red Deer

National Indigenous Peoples Day will be celebrated in Red Deer on Monday with a virtual tour of important local sites and other online activities.

The Big Voice Singers and the Sage Moon will perform during the online celebrations. Elder Lynn Jonasson will conduct a prayer and smudge ceremony, Red Deer Mayor Tara Veer will bring greetings, and various local Indigenous organizations will highlight their activities.

A Pass the Feather video and traditional cooking video will also be shown. And the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre will hold contests for Orange Shirt Day design and a land-based contest.
