Innisfail hotel room fire leads to charges

Minor damage reported to room at Innisfail Hotel and the Zoo on Saturday

A 40-year-old man has been charged with arson after a fire broke out at an Innisfail hotel.

RCMP got a call about a fire at the Innisfail Hotel and Zoo on Saturday. When police arrived, they ensured the building was evacuated.

A small fire in one of the hotel rooms was put out by residents and the Innisfail fire department. Only minor damage was reported.

RCMP arrested the resident of the hotel room nearby and charged a man of no fixed address with arson and mischief. He was due in Red Deer provincial court on Monday.
