Innisfail man facing drug, weapons charges after weekend arrest

RCMP were monitoring suspect when he allegedly broke custody release conditions

A known repeat offender was arrested by Innisfail RCMP after allegedly breaching his custody release conditions.

Police were keeping an eye on a suspect when he was accused of breaching his release conditions on Saturday. The suspect was followed to Olds, where he was arrested by Innisfail RCMP with help from officers from Olds, Didsbury and Sundre detachments.

A search turned up fentanyl, GHB (often known as the date rape drug), cocaine, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and cash. Police also seized bear spray and a conducted energy weapon similar to a Tazer.

A 36-year-old Innisfail man is facing four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and three counts of breaching probation.

The suspect was in custody and due in Didsbury Provincial Court on Monday.
