Two people were arrested after an alleged break and enter at a central Alberta oilfield site.

Innisfail RCMP were called to a site near Raven, where witnesses reported a “suspicious vehicle” at about 7:30 p.m. this past Thursday.

Police say witnesses belonging to the Raven crime watch group were able to provide a description of the vehicle and the direction it travelled while officers were responding to the location.

Innisfail RCMP located the suspect vehicle a short time later. Police also discovered the oilfield site had been damaged and copper wire had been stolen.

Police located freshly cut copper wire in the vehicle and the occupants, a 42-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were arrested without incident.

The two are charged with breaking and entering, theft under $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.

The woman was wanted on two outstanding warrants and charged with failing to comply with conditions. The man is also charged with offences under the Traffic Safety Act.

Both will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court Oct. 6.
