Innisfail RCMP arrest two and seize firearm

A Red Deer woman and a Calgary man are facing charges after police seized counterfeit money, drugs and weapons in a traffic stop on Friday morning.

A Red Deer woman and a Calgary man are facing charges after police seized counterfeit money, drugs and weapons in a traffic stop on Friday morning.

Police spotted two suspicious vehicles around 2:30 a.m. in Penhold on Friday.

A vehicle stop was initiated and the man was found to be wanted on 10 outstanding warrants as well as being bound by a probation order.

The 22-year-old man is charged with obstruction, failing to comply with probation among other charges.

The female driver of the second vehicle was also found to be on curfew conditions and was arrested without incident. A search incidental to arrest revealed illegal drugs, a loaded .22 caliber Ruger 10/22 rifle with a magazine and counterfeit U.S. currency.

RCMP say the 20-year-old woman was charged with knowingly possessing a firearm while unauthorized, possession of firearm without a licence, counterfeit money and controlled substance among other charges.

The woman is scheduled to appear at the Red Deer Provincial Court on March 16. The man is scheduled to appear at the Red Deer Provincial Court on March 23.
