Three people are facing numerous charges after Innisfail RCMP executed a search warrant and seized 21 prohibited and non-restricted firearms.

On Tuesday last week, at 5 a.m., police saw a man known to police violate his court-imposed conditions by leaving his residence in Penhold and leave in a vehicle.

A traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of Blackfalds RCMP on Highway 2A leaving Penhold. Three occupants in the vehicle were located in possession of two firearms. The vehicle and firearms were seized and the occupants, two men and one woman, were arrested.

Search warrants were obtained and executed by Innisfail RCMP at the Penhold residence and the seized vehicle.

In addition to the 21 firearms, silver coins, collectable currency, and suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were seized as well.

A 21-year-old man from Penhold, a 33-year-old man of no fixed address and a 37-year-old woman from Olds have been jointly charged with numerous offences, including possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

All three are facing individual charges as well.

After a judicial hearing, all three accused were remanded to custody. The 33-year-old man and the 37-year-old woman will next appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Thursday and 21-year-old man on Sunday.

Innisfail RCMP believe the firearms seized are related to a recent break and enter in Innisfail, and are continuing to investigate.

“Innisfail RCMP are encouraging the community to report criminal or suspicious activity when it is observed as too often incidents are reported long after the incident,” police said Monday.

“Reports tell us where to look, who to look for and where to patrol in the future. If you see a crime in progress, dial 911.”
