Innisfail RCMP are initiating a rural ATV patrol program in hopes of encouraging more people to safely enjoy the outdoors.

With warmer weather approaching, Innisfail RCMP started patrolling the backcountry and rural areas with ATVs last week.

RCMP members were trying to ensure community members are following all safe riding precautions, including wearing helmets, having up-to-date insurance and registration, and not trespassing, destroying property, violating liquor laws or driving impaired.

Innisfail RCMP will regularly partner with other agencies for enhanced ATV patrols including Red Deer County Patrol, Alberta Fish and Wildlife and Alberta Forestry Parks and Tourism.

Starting this summer, the RCMP will also partner with Town of Innisfail Community Peace Officers to patrol the parks and trails in town.
