An Innisfail town councillor accused of sexual assault will be tried before a jury next January.

Donnie Douglas Hill was charged last fall with sexual assault, forcible confinement, assault and criminal harassment. None of the allegations have been tested in court.

The alleged offences occurred between 2013 and 2015, said police.

A trial was set for Jan. 17-21, 2022 in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on Monday morning.

In a statement last month, Hill denied the allegations and said he looked forward to clearing his name in court.

Hill, who was first elected to council in 2017, is the subject of an ongoing council code of conduct investigation.
