It’s Election Day in Red Deer- North, here’s what you need to know

The next reign of local leaders are expected to be named Monday night, as the 2023 provincial election gets underway.

In Red Deer- North, incumbent Adriana LaGrange of the UCP is being challenged by NDP candidate Jaelene Tweedle. Other candidates include Vicky Bayford (The Independence Party of Alberta), Kallie Dyck (Solidarity of Movement of Alberta) and Heather Morigeau (Green Party of Alberta). LaGrange has served as Alberta’s Minister of Education over the past four years and won 60 per cent of the vote in 2019, with 12,739 votes.

Polls are open in Red Deer- North from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.

What happens once polls close?

After 8 p.m. local time, election officials will begin counting and tallying the ballots. Last week 758,550 people voted in the Advance Polls across the province.
