It’s Election Day in Red Deer- South, here’s everything you need to know

The next reign of local leaders are expected to be named Monday night, as the 2023 provincial election gets underway.

In Red Deer-South, incumbent Jason Stephan of the UCP is being challenged by city solicitor Michelle Baer of the NDP. Other candidates in the riding include Pamela Liebenberg (Solidarity Movement of Alberta), Ashley MacDonald (Green Party of Alberta), Jesse Stretch (Wildrose Loyalty Coalition). In 2019, Stephan garnered 16,159 votes, 60.31 per cent of the electorate.

Stephan served on the Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future as well as the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. Stephan has previously served on the Select Special Committee to Examine Safe Supply, the Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing, as well as the Select Special Information and Privacy Commissioner Search Committee among others.

Polls are open in Red Deer- South from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
