The search continues for a suspect believed to have used an explosive to rob a jewellery store in Olds on Thursday morning. RCMP were called to Stevens Jewellery at 5014 50th Ave. at 10:15 a.m. after staff reported that a robbery attempt was underway and they believed the suspect was carrying an explosive. Olds RCMP arrived in time to interrupt the robbery, but the unidentified male was able to escape from the store and fled in a vehicle, said Sgt. Patrick Webb, media liaison officer for the RCMP’s Southern Alberta District. Some jewellery was removed from the store, said Webb. There was no indication whether the robbery was related to a separate incident at an undisclosed Olds location later in the day, he said. Details are being withheld to protect an ongoing investigation, he said.
