An evening of Outlaw Country, featuring the music of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, is coming to Red Deer’s Memorial Centre.

One night of legendary country music will be performed by David James and his Big River band on Thursday, June 6th. The event is being described as “two big shows in one big night” since James will be channelling two personas.

James and his band look and sound like the legacy of the Man in Black. And as an opener, James will introduce his new portrayal of Country Music Hall of Fame artist, Waylon Jennings.

“Pairing Johnny Cash and Waylon is a natural fit, as they were the best of friends and worked together throughout their careers,” states a release about the show.

The professionalism of the musicians and James’s vocal similarity to Cash is what fans have come to expect. The extensive catalogue of songs that will be performed includes classics such as Walk the Line, Get Rhythm and Boy Named Sue, to newer hits like Rusty Cage and Hurt.

Alongside James’s authentic tribute to outlaw superstar Jennings, he and the Big River musicians will invoke the sounds and images of another era.
