Canadian folk-pop band The Strumbellas will perform some uplifting tunes in Red Deer on July 13.

The band known for such cheerful and energetic songs as Spirits, Young and Wild and Salvation will be appearing at Bo’s Bar and Stage.

The Strumbellas have released four albums since forming in 2008, including the gold-selling Hope in 2016, which got a lot of mainstream radio play in Canada and Europe. The band’s song Spirits from the album won the 2017 Juno Award for Single of the Year.

Last year, the multi-platinum Ontario band gained a new lead singer, Jimmy Chauveau, after former frontman Simon Ward stepped into a behind-the-scenes role as a songwriter to focus more on his family.

The group’s bassist and co-founding member, Darryl James, is still touring with the band even though he just released his second solo Indie-Rock EP titled Colours under the alias Close Kicks. James has had his own radio hits under this alias, including the tunes Running Wild and The House We Built.

James will be performing at Bo’s in Red Deer with The Strumbellas.
