Jury begins deliberating Volker case

The jury has begun deliberating the case of Brian Clarence Volker, a Delburne man charged with first-degree murder of his wife Debi Volker.

The jury has begun deliberating the case of Brian Clarence Volker, a Delburne man charged with first-degree murder of his wife Debi Volker.

Deliberations began at 1 p.m. on Tuesday after Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Doreen Sulyma took two hours to instruct the jury on the law.

Brian Volker, a 50-year-old farmer and trucker, is charged with the shooting death of his estranged wife Debi Volker, 44, on Feb. 23, 2009, at her Delburne home.

He is also charged with breaking and entering, committing an offence, using a weapon and four counts of breaching conditions of a release from custody.
