A two-week jury trial is set for next October for a Red Deer man charged with second-degree murder.

Benjamin William Rabbit, 28, will go on trial Oct. 16-27, 2023 in connection with the death of a man in December 2021.

Red Deer RCMP responded to an alleged homicide at an apartment on 55th Street in the city on Dec. 29, 2021.

Upon arrival, police found a 66-year-old resident dead.

A suspect was immediately taken into custody and brought to the Red Deer RCMP detachment.

Following further investigation by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, Rabbit was charged with second-degree murder. Rabbit and the deceased knew each other, said police.
