Red Deerians are encouraged to clear out their clutter for Kick it to the Curb on Saturday and Sunday.

During the city-wide event, residents can place their unwanted, but usable items at the front of their property marked with a ‘FREE’ sign. Then explore curbsides around the city to find new-to-you treasures.

“It’s for both people to get rid of things that they no longer want, as well as for people to find treasures just sitting at the curb waiting for them,” said Marilyn Moore, waste diversion specialist with the city.

She said you never know what may be of interest to someone else, so people should go ahead and bring out items that are collecting dust.

“There’s no sense landfilling it if it’s still got life to it. We just want to give people an opportunity to reuse and recycle.”

• Advertise’ your items on The City’s Facebook event page or use #RDKickIt2022 on Twitter.

• At the end of the weekend bring any uncollected items back into your home.

People looking for items should:

• Take only the items at the curb marked “FREE”.

• Respect property; don’t walk or drive on lawns or gardens.
