Red Deer Kinsmen Club is holdings its first annual Family Ice Fishing Derby on Sunday on Gull Lake.
It will be a free fishing weekend, which means Alberta Fish and Game is allowing people to fish without fishing licences.
Registration fees are $20 per adult and $10 per child. It is strongly urged that participants pre-register at the Sportsmen Den at 7667 50th Ave. or Eastview IGA at 3839 40th Ave. in Red Deer to avoid long registration lines the morning of the derby.
Those who pre-register do not need to check in on Sunday but can begin fishing right away.The family-oriented event will have prizes with jumbo hotdogs and pop available for $4.
Registration starts at 7:30 am at Brownlows Landing, Gull Lake (there will be signs to guide you off Range Road 10). Registration ends at noon. For more information go to www.reddeerkinsmen.com/blog
