A local car dealership has donated a vehicle to the Central Alberta Humane Society.

This week, Kipp Scott GMC donated a 2022 cargo van to the animal shelter and adoption centre. The vehicle will be used for animal pickups and drop-offs, business, and supply pickups and equipment deliveries.

“The generosity of this donation from Kipp Scott GMC is truly heartwarming and deeply appreciated,” said Eve Sira, Central Alberta Humane Society executive director.

“They included winter tires on rims, added a remote start and backup camera that will make a huge difference in safety and comfort to the team members that drive it. Most importantly they even installed an alarm system that will help protect the van from the local crime around the area.”

Vince Jackman, chair of the Central Alberta Humane Society’s board of directors, thanked Kipp Scott GMC for the “amazing donation.”

“Having a reliable vehicle to do day-to-day work will be so beneficial to our society and staff,” said Jackman.

Additionally, G-Force Signs and Graphics donated a sign wrapping for the van, which will help provide a visual reminder that the Central Alberta Humane Society is helping local animals in need, the society said in a statement.

“We are so grateful for this support, and it would have a huge impact on us and our animals,” Sira added.

Community support, like this collaboration with Kipp Scott GMC, makes it possible for the society to provide hundreds of lost and abandoned animals with shelter, food, enrichment and veterinary care, the society said.

Adoptions and donations have been down significantly within the industry over the past couple years, the society said, adding that all support is welcome and appreciated.

Garrett Scott, dealer and operator of Scottsville Auto Group, said the team at Kipp Scott GMC is proud to support the Central Alberta Humane Society.

“Many of us at the dealership have pets, and a lot of those pets were once rescue animals,” said Scott, Dealer/Operator of Scottsville Auto Group.

On most weekends Scott’s rescue pitbull, Leonard, can be seen roaming the showroom visiting his work friends.
