Lacombe city council is adding more opportunities to meet with the public.
Council made changes to its Public Engagement Plan to add new ways to “engage with residents in various new ways to ensure timely critical feedback can be provided.”
“Our citizens expect city council to be ready, able and willing to discuss various municipal issues,” Mayor Grant Creasey said. “This plan allows for several innovative and exciting opportunities for Council to connect with residents on the important issues in our community – and maybe even have a little fun while we are at it.”
The annual Public Engagement Plan has typically included Coffee with Council sessions and the new events will add more opportunities to meet council.
The new approach will see one to three council members staffing booths at local events such as Light Up Lacombe or Lacombe Generals hockey games.
Two Coffee with Council sessions will take place at the community’s Fall Active Living Fair and the Lacombe and District Tradeshow and Marketplace. The city is also looking to host a pancake breakfast with a local non-profit organization to be run with one of the city’s main events, such as Lacombe Days, Canada Day or the Culture and Harvest Festival.
The changes will take effect next year.
