Fires are now prohibited in Lacombe County with the exception of fires set for cooking or warming purposes.
The county issued the fire prevention notice on Tuesday.
Fire permits will be issued only for the purpose of farming operations to assist with spring seeding, like limited burning of bales and crop windrows interfering with seeding operations.
No permits will be issued for the burning of brush piles resulting from land clearing or general yard cleanup.
Fire prohibition will remain in effect until further notice.
