Lacombe Police Service arrested a 34-year-old from Red Deer after drugs and guns were discovered during a traffic stop on June 15.
Police say around 10 a.m., they located a black Dodge Ram truck parked behind a local motel. A male suspect was found passed out in the vehicle.
During the investigation and search incidental to arrest, police observed a bag containing approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine, a large hunting knife strapped to the centre console, and an AR-15 replica rifle positioned next to the driver’s seat.
The replica firearm was nearly indistinguishable from a real firearm and was easily accessible to the driver.
Additional evidence consistent with drug trafficking, including digital scales, packaging materials, and a ledger used to track drug transactions, was also recovered.
At the time of the arrest, the occupant was found to be bound by multiple court-imposed conditions, including prohibitions related to weapons, drugs, and alcohol.
The 34-year-old has been charged with the following offenses:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
• Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
• Possession of a weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
The vehicle was also seized for a 24-hour period, along with a 24-hour driver’s license suspension due to drug impairment.
