Central Alberta company among Canada’s Top 100 workplaces

A Lacombe-based company that helps farmers and ranchers weather various storms was selected one of Canada’s Top 100 employers in 2021.

Alberta’s Agriculture Financial Services Corporation has also been selected as a Top Employer for Canadians over 40, as well as one of Alberta’s Top Employers.

The AFSC helps agricultural producers cope with hailstorms, floods or drought that threatenen their livelihood.

The AFSC scored an A rating for work atmosphere and communications, for financial benefits and compensation, for giving employees vacation and personal time off, for providing training and skills development, and for its community involvement.

It received a B to B+ rating for physical workspace, employee engagement and performance and for providing health and family friendly benefits.

From helping employees plan for life after work through full-day retirement planning courses to offering flexible work arrangements and maternity and parental leave top-ups, the company’s generous policies were recognized for helping the AFSC become one of the top work places in the country.

For more than 80 years, the company has provided loans, crop insurance and farm disaster assistance. It has 42 branches across the province, with its head office in Lacombe.

Alberta Health Services, Pembina Pipeline Corporation, Enbridge, and Suncor Energy were among the other Alberta employers that made Canada’s Top 100 list.
