Today is the last day to purchase live butterflies in a fundraiser for Red Deer Hospice.
The hospice is selling painted lady butterflies for $25 each. The butterflies take about four weeks to grow and are individually packaged for curb-side pick-up at the hospice at 99 Arnot Ave. on June 23. They must be released within 24 hours of pick-up.
“Releasing a butterfly can be a very healing experience,” said Red Deer Hospice executive director Jerri Taylor. “It can be a touching tribute to those who are no longer with us, a way of letting go or starting a new chapter.”
Proceeds from the Live Butterfly Campaign will go towards enhancing resident comfort care at the hospice.
Red Deer Hospice has 16 individual rooms and offers 24-hour professional nursing care and bereavement support at no cost to residents.
