March is Fraud Prevention Month and Central Albertans can learn how to better protect against scams at a public information event on Tuesday at the downtown branch of the Red Deer Public Library.
The March 5 event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the library’s auditorium, is part of a month-long crime prevention initiative to educate and inform consumers about how to recognize, report and stop fraud.
There will be guest speakers and information booths.
March 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Fraud Prevention Month in Canada. This year’s themes include identity theft, online scams and fraud, business fraud and scams, investment scams, mass marketing and phone scams.
Central Alberta FASD Network is working with the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association to host the event.
