Lives lost when minivan rolls on busy stretch of southern Alberta highway

Two people have been killed in the crash of a minivan east of Calgary.

CHESTERMERE — Two people have been killed in the crash of a minivan east of Calgary.

RCMP say the eastbound vehicle went out of control on the Trans-Canada Highway near Chestermere Tuesday night.

They say it rolled through the median before ending up on the shoulder of the westbound lane.

The driver died at the scene and a female passenger was pronounced dead in hospital.

The victims’ names have not been released.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
