Local musician Curtis Labelle holds farewell-to-Red Deer show on June 23

Singer and rock pianist Curtis Labelle will perform a final show for his hometown fans in Red Deer this month before moving east.

Labelle’s opening act on June 23 at the Scott Block Theatre are The Dillmans, winner of the Red Deer Battle of the Bands. And special guests sharing the stage with Labelle are local musicians Jeremy Doody and Claude Godin.

Labelle, whose stage costumes and purple piano are showing at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, is moving to Ontario later this month to be closer to his relatives and more entertainment opportunities.

The Red Deer-raised musician has made big contributions to the local arts scene, from directing local musicals to performing his original rock piano tunes at local bars, and teaching music at The Hub. Labelle was also an “ambassador” for Central Alberta Pride.

Tickets for his show are available at www.curtislabelle.com. ($10 from every ticket purchase will go towards the non-profit media educating society C.A.M.P. — Central Alberta Media Productions).
