Central Alberta artist Larry Reese will share some personal stories about the challenges of getting his work into galleries on March 29.

Reese’s talk, titled So Many Artists, So Few Galleries - Finding Your Way In, will highlight various strategies for artists who want to get a foothold into commercial galleries. It is part of the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery’s Business of Being an Artist series.

Stories of Reese’s successes and failures will be sprinkled throughout the presentation, which will include photos of some of his gallery-accepted paintings.

“I will also have several paintings on display and will reveal my latest painting heading to the Grant Berg Gallery in Grande Prairie,” said Reese.

The visual artist and former Red Deer Polytechnic film instructor who lives near Sylvan Lake, has had his paintings shown around Alberta. This includes at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, which will be hosting his talk from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29.

Reese said he intends to gear the discussion towards artists, as well as members of the general public who are interested in the arts. Tickets are $15, or $10 for members of the museum or Red Deer Arts Council.

Those interested in attending are asked to pre-register at reddeermuseum.com.
