A group of central Alberta builders have united to promote their industry.
Central Alberta Builders Group was formed by five home builders last year, said Mason Martin Homes managing director Hugh MacBeth.
All of the builders, Mason Martin, Falcon Homes, Unique, Abbey Platinum Master Built, Asset Builders and Unique Elevations are local veterans with lengthy track records.
The group was formed last year, partly in response to complaints he heard about some builders.
“That’s where we got together and we said we’ve got to form a group and say, ‘Hey, we do show up. We do look after our people and our customers.’ We hold each other accountable.”
All five companies have built good reputations and given back to the community through charity and sponsoring sports teams and other organizations.
“All of us have been Builders of the Year,” he said.
“Nowadays, people are more concerned about the quality of a home and the service they get after.
“We have the infrastructure and the service departments and all the stuff that goes along with it to ensure that when the customer does make a buying decision they are getting look after they move into it.”
Under provincial regulations, builders must stand behind their homes for 10 years, guaranteeing the structure.
“That’s why we formed our Central Alberta Builders Group, so we have a professional group of builders and people have the confidence they are going to get looked after.”
Similar building groups have previously been formed in Calgary and Edmonton and proven successful.
“Timberlands was overlooked for a while. Five of us builders got together and we believe it’s a diamond in the rough,” he said. “We’re putting huge investment into it.”
It is a great location, with links to major city thoroughfares and minutes away from two golf courses, Canyon Ski Resort as well as shopping centres and city recreational facilities.
