A Youngstown man won $100,000 from a lottery ticket purchased in central Alberta.

Merlin Harris bought a ticket from the Esso station at 117 Lakeway Blvd. in Sylvan Lake on Sept. 14. Almost two weeks later, on Sept. 27, he scanned his ticket and saw he won the Sept. 16 Lotto Max draw by matching the last six digits of the winning Extra number.

“I was sitting in the garage with my dog when I decided to check my tickets. I checked them and thought it was $1,000, so I got my wife to check it too. That’s when we realized we won $100,000,” he said.

With his winnings, Harris said he plans on getting a new car, paying some bills and then possible taking a trip to the Dominican.
