Man charged after autopsy determines death on Alberta reserve a homicide

A charge of manslaughter has been laid in the recent death of a man on a southern Alberta reserve.

COCHRANE — A charge of manslaughter has been laid in the recent death of a man on a southern Alberta reserve.

RCMP at Cochrane say Wilfred Junior Amos, a 28-year-old resident of Morley, Alta., died at a home on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation early last Friday morning.

An autopsy done two days later in Calgary determined that the death was a homicide.

Gavin Bearhead, who is also from Morley, has been remanded in custody.

The 30-year-old suspect will appear in a Cochrane courtroom on Feb. 2.
