CALGARY — A 25-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing injury after a Calgary police officer was dragged by a car along a busy freeway.

Andrio Martin of no fixed address is also charged with assault to resist arrest and several Traffic Safety Act offences.

He is to appear in court Tuesday.

Const. Sean LaBrie had to be treated in hospital for a torn rotator cuff, bruises and scrapes after he was dragged about 200 metres while he was trying to make an arrest Friday.

LaBrie had pulled over a speeding vehicle on Deerfoot Trail and reached in to pull the driver out of the car, but he sped away.

The veteran officer was able to eventually get into the car, wrestle with the driver and put his foot on the brake.
