Man charged in connection with weekend Maskwacis homicide

A 41-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a Maskwacis man last weekend.

Maskwacis RCMP said they responded to a report of a stabbing at a Samson Cree Nation residence about 10 p.m. on Saturday. When police arrived they found a badly injured man.

“Police attempted to administer first aid to the victim and called EMS. Sadly, upon EMS arrival, the victim, who has been identified as a 34-year-old male resident of Maskwacis, was deceased,” said RCMP in a news release on Monday.

Officers quickly located and arrested a suspect.

A 41-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody and was due in Wetaskiwin’s Alberta Court of Justice on Tuesday.
