A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection to the damage to Papa Baldy’s Pizza after a truck drove into the restaurant on Friday.

Red Deer RCMP said the man turned himself in Saturday and was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident in which a person was injured.

Police said a truck reversed across the parking lot and drove into Papa Baldy’s Pizza restaurant causing extensive damage and minor injuries to a female employee who was inside the restaurant.

RCMP confirmed that the man’s truck matched the description of the suspect truck and had damage consistent with the collision with the building.

At this point in the investigation, RCMP believe the collision was unintentional and police continue to investigate.

The man’s name has not yet been released yet as charges have not yet been sworn before the courts, but he is set to appear in court on March 23.
