A man convicted in October of second-degree murder for stabbing a man to death at Sunchild First Nation in 2018 will be sentenced next month.

Evan Ernest Foureyes was convicted by a jury of fatally stabbing Arley Lagrelle, 23, during a fight outside the Sunchild store on the evening of Nov. 9, 2018. Foureyes was also convicted of kidnapping with a firearm after he approached a truck driver in Lodgepole while holding a rifle and asked to be given a ride on the morning after Lagrelle’s stabbing.

Foureyes will be sentenced on Jan. 14 by Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Gillian Marriott.

Second-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence with no parole from 10 to 25 years.
