A man has died as a result of a serious collision near Ponoka.
Ponoka RCMP say a 22-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being taken by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital after an accident Thursday after midnight.
“Information gathered on scene indicates that the vehicle was travelling southbound on the QEII south of Highway 53 when it lost control and struck a guardrail. The vehicle came to rest facing north in the southbound lanes,” said police.
“There was only one occupant in the car, and no other vehicles were involved in this collision. Traffic was delayed while the scene was cleared up.”

STARS Air Ambulance was called to the scene of a single vehicle collision just after midnight on Thursday on the QE2 south of Ponoka. The cause of the incident is not known, however, crews were on the scene for several hours.
