CALGARY — A man who admitted to sexually assaulting a Calgary woman 24 years ago has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Gerald Raymond Clark, who is 56, pleaded guilty last week just as his trial was to begin.

He admitted to breaking into the victim’s home in 1990 while she slept, binding her with duct tape and sexually assaulting her.

The case went cold, but DNA evidence eventually linked Clark to the crime.

The eight-year sentence had been requested by the Crown.
