A Clearwater County man received one month jail for being drunk during a crash that killed an Ontario woman.

Christopher William Ross, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of having a blood alcohol level of more than 0.08 on Wednesday in Red Deer provincial court.

Trisha Wise, 20, was killed in a collision north east of Rocky Mountain House on June 22, 2014.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP said the incident started as an argument between Wise and Ross and Wise began walking down the rural road. Ross was identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck Wise.

Ross was sentenced to 30 days in jail, one year of probation and a $200 fine. A charge of impaired driving causing death was withdrawn.
