LA LOCHE, Sask. — A northern Saskatchewan RCMP officer is recovering from injuries after police say he was dragged several metres during a vehicle stop.

The La Loche detachment constable pulled over a car on Highway 155, south of the community, on Saturday evening.

Police say he was speaking to the driver and passengers when the vehicle suddenly sped away, resulting in the Mountie being dragged between 50 and 100 metres before he got free and fell to the road.

He was treated and released from hospital.

Police are still looking for the driver.

They have issued an arrest warrant for Colin Evan Lemaigre, a 32-year-old La Loche resident, on charges that include a count of assaulting a peace officer.
