One man has been hospitalized with stab wounds and three suspects are in custody after a fight at a Red Deer motel on Thursday.

Const. Chris Kosack, media liaison officer with the Red Deer City RCMP, said that three people allegedly confronted the victim, a 30-year-old man, at the Aladdin Motor Inn on Gaetz Avenue near 74th Street at about 12:45 p.m.

There was a physical confrontation during which an “edged weapon” was produced.

Police allege that the victim was stabbed after which the three suspects, two males and one female, escaped in a van, said Kosack.

A City of Red Deer traffic enforcement officer pulled the vehicle over in a subsequent traffic stop. RCMP arrested all three suspects at the scene.

The investigation continues and charges have not yet been laid.
