The second of two men charged in several residential break-ins in Red Deer will be sentenced in September after pleading guilty Wednesday.

Brad Stuart Whitehill, 34, of Calgary, pleaded guilty to five break-ins on April 5 and will be sentenced Sept. 2 after he appeared in Red Deer provincial court.

Sentencing was adjourned to allow for a pre-sentence report and a psychological assessment.

Whitehill is also entering a drug rehabilitation program. He was released on $500 cash deposit with several conditions.

He was captured and charged after a woman phoned RCMP to report that her Inglewood residence was being broken into by three men.

The woman was returning home around 2 p.m. When she opened the front door, part of the door frame fell on her, court heard earlier.

She left quickly and grabbed the keys from a pickup truck parked in her driveway.

Ryan Kori Callahan, 29, of Calgary was sentenced to 2/12 years in jail after pleading guilty to five break-ins last week.

Callahan had a lengthy property record while Whitehill has a more modest record with no convictions since 2007.

A third suspect managed to elude police and remains at large.

Police discovered money, jewelry and electronic equipment, which had been reported stolen that day from residences in West Park, Fairview and Inglewood.
