Manhunt for missing prisoner ends without incident

A prisoner who escaped nearly a month ago from an Alberta correctional centre is back in custody.

EDSON — A prisoner who escaped nearly a month ago from an Alberta correctional centre is back in custody.

RCMP say Cody Joseph McIntosh, who is 29, was arrested without incident Wednesday in Edson on a Canada-wide warrant.

Police say McIntosh and a second inmate, Simon Erwin Cardinal, escaped from the Pe Sakastew Correctional Centre in Hobbema on Sept. 6.

Centre staff notified Mounties and arrest warrants were issued.

Cardinal was recaptured by Edmonton police on Sept. 16.
