Marguerite Trussler sworn in at legislature as new Alberta ethics commissioner

Alberta has a new ethics commissioner.

EDMONTON — Alberta has a new ethics commissioner.

Marguerite Trussler was sworn in today by Speaker Gene Zwozdesky in a ceremony at the legislature.

Trussler becomes the fourth ethics commissioner, replacing Neil Wilkinson.

Trussler was born in Edmonton, raised in Calgary, and served as a Court of Queen’s Bench judge for 20 years.

For the last seven years she has been the chair of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.

The ethics commissioner is an independent officer of the legislature charged with supervising the registration of lobbyists and investigating conflicts of interest involving MLAs.
