Kacey Schram of Red Deer represented Canada in the World Martial Arts Games in Las Vegas on Sept. 17 and came away with three medals in the 14-to-17-year-old advanced division (green to brown belts with three to five or more years of experience). The medals included a gold in grappling. The 14-year-old also won a bronze medal in each of the sparring and Japanese hand forms-kata events. Schram’s success earned the Kempo-Karate green belt a berth in the Canadian Pan Games next year in Regina.
