Maskwacis man killed after being hit by train

Collision happened about 12:40 p.m. on Samson Cree Nation site

A 39-year-old Maskwacis man was killed after being hit by a train on Samson Cree Nation early Friday afternoon.

The collision between the train and the man who was on foot happened near the intersection of Hwy 2A and 611 about 12:40 p.m. Police, firefighters and EMS were called to the scene. Emergency crews were still there two hours later.

Traffic in the area was not affected and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
