Maskwacis RCMP located a loaded homemade .22-calibre firearm in Wetaskiwin.

Officers found the firearm on a suspicious male in Wetaskiwin on Friday morning.

Members of the Maskwacis community response unit were passing a commercial property at around 9:30 a.m., when they noticed a man who appeared to be attempting to enter a locked compound.

The man was detained and police discovered the homemade firearm on him. Further searching revealed ammunition and supplies to construct another homemade weapon.

Rawson Raine, 27, of Wetaskiwin, has been charged with 12 counts relating to the possession and unsafe storage of firearms.
