Maskwacis RCMP want to talk to viewers of arson video

Maskwacis RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in an ongoing arson investigation.

On Dec. 2 at about 3:00 a.m., Maskwacis RCMP were called to investigate two residential structure fires on the Montana First Nation.

The Fire Department battled to extinguish the flames, but damage was extensive and the homes couldn’t be saved. There were no injuries as the residences were empty at the time.

A police investigation later determined the fires were suspicious.

Maskwacis RCMP learned of a video that may have been briefly posted on the SnapChat app. Anyone who has seen the video is asked to contact the Maskwacis RCMP. It’s believed it o was posted on Dec. 2 between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

The investigation into the fires is ongoing, and police are working alongside fire investigators.
