Maskwacis receives funding for baseball diamond from Toronto Blue Jays charity organization

Maskwacis is one of 15 organizations and the only one in Alberta to receive a significant investment from the Toronto Blue Jays Field of Dreams program.

The Jays Care Foundation is investing more than $1.5 million in 2023 to benefit children and youth. Maskwacis will receive funding to build, enhance, or refurbish baseball diamonds where children and youth will develop important life skills and learn from positive role models. The announcement of the winners was made during the Toronto Blue Jays broadcast on Sunday afternoon.

“We are very excited to be selected as a @JaysCare Field Of Dreams grant recipient,” stated the Louis Bull Tribe on Facebook.

“This funding will help give athletes in Louis Bull Tribe a safe place to play, learn and grow.”

Below is a video of the reaction to the announcement on Sunday.

Over the past 10 years, Jays Care has invested nearly $15 million in 163 Field Of Dreams projects across the country.

“Jays Care is honoured to partner with 15 exceptional organizations throughout Canada that are dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces for young people in their communities,” said Robert Witchel, Executive Director of the Jays Care Foundation.

“Through the building of these baseball diamonds, youth will have the opportunity to form lasting relationships and a sense of belonging, learn valuable life-skills from positive role models, and grow through the power of sport and play.”
